TRADITIONAL & TRANSITIONAL

A kitchen that will stand up to the test of time is one well worth having. The elegance of the traditional style proves itself over and over, standing on the pillars of natural texture and abundant detail. Solid woods and natural stone for tiles, counters, and floors lend their own character to the space. Raised or recessed cabinet doors, decorative moldings, and refined hardware add depth and interest.

If you like the traditional feel but don’t want to go all out, there are many avenues of balance. Strip down some of the ornamentation and mix in man-made materials and textures to achieve a more transitional style. Go a little more rustic with fixtures and simple shaker cabinets. Spruce up your color palette.

We’re comfortable with any level of complexity. You can choose to stay faithful to your preferred style or blend elements from multiple styles. We can give you pointers on common design choices and material advantages and disadvantages to ensure that your kitchen suits your needs and preferences.

MODERN

These are modern times we’re living in. Building style has evolved alongside fabrication and artistic fashions. Modern kitchens emphasize minimalism and geometry. Hardware is simple or hidden altogether. Cabinets are free from ornaments and molding. Materials tend to be synthetic: custom veneers, stainless steel, concrete, laminates, glass. Minimalism in shape, as well as the man-made nature of these materials, allows for a great range of finishes, textures, and colors.

Though the modern style tends to be associated with cleanliness and limited color palettes, it is actually quite flexible. Some bolder designs take advantage of asymmetry and dynamic curves to bring a dramatic air into the room. Others use futuristic lighting accents or oblique angles to push the boundaries of convention.

Whatever modern means to you, we have experience in all of its quarters. Much of our work has involved building entirely custom pieces and finding ways to create features for which there is no established protocol.
